Specialised Automobile Services and Wirewheels

30 Years of Wirewheels

Established in 1980, Specialised Automobile Services employs several highly skilled craftsmen trained in the black art of wire wheel building to manufacture, repair and restore any form of vintage wire wheel ever created throughout the history of the automobile.

With a unique blend of traditional hands-on engineering and up to date fabrication techniques SAS produces wirewheels for the toughest of endurance rallies, the fastest of race cars and the rarest of show pieces, including  a wide range of early historic aircraft.

Founded by Stephen Hopkins, SAS was born out of a life long fascination with vintage cars. Only when putting the finishing touches to an Austin 7 project did Steve realise the astounding lack of knowledge, materials and even parts involved in fixing the wheels for such a car.

Thousands of hours of research and investment later, Steve's seemingly endless fascination with wire wheels has introduced him to many interesting customers around the globe. Steve soon also developed the well known range of Turrino alloy rimmed competition wire wheels which are still made exclusively by SAS.

Today Austin 7 wheels are just one of an extensive range of wire wheels available to our customers.

Our steel rims have always been cold roll formed and are the strongest type available.

If you have a wire wheel of ANY pattern we can restore it or make a replacement.

Borrani wheel restoration is also a speciality. Please browse our website find out more about our extensive capability to manufacture & refurbish wire wheels.
